LABORATORY «PHYSICS OF CARBON OPTICAL AND ELECTRICAL NANOSTRUCTURES»

Laboratory carries out a research of the physical properties of hybrid nanosystems, a development and fabrication of nanomaterials and nanostructures with required application parameters for a new generation of high-efficiency innovative technologies and devices of optoelectronics and photonics.
The major objective of the Laborotory is an investigation of features of the optical and nonradiative transitions and mechanisms of dissipation of energy of elementary excitations in hybrid systems with semiconductor and carbon nanoparticles.

INTERNATIONAL LABORATORY «MATHEMATICAL METHODS IN PHYSICS OF COMPLEX MATERIALS»

International laboratoty Mathematical methods in physics of complex materials", created in the framework of the Program for increasing competitiveness of University ITMO. The laboratory is a self-contained research unit, contributes to the establishment of pedagogic and research community in St. Petersburg, based on synthesis of fundamental research and commercial applications.

LABORATORY «PHOTOPHYSICS OF SURFACE»

Laboratory performs studies of optical phenomena that are substantially influenced by solid surfaces. Optical, electrical and photoelectrical properties of granular metal films resonantly excited in the localized surface plasmon bands are studied experimentally. The studies are directed to understanding of the processes that occur during the collisions of the highly excited atoms with solid surfaces.

LABORATORY «NONLINEAR OPTICS OF CONDENSED MATTER»  Nonlinear optics of condensed matter

The laboratory successfully conducts fundamental and applied research in a wide field of problems of modern optics, spectroscopy, and physics of interaction of high-intensity laser radiation with matter. Among these are such topics as coherent and nonlinear optical processes, ultrahigh-speed optical switching of materials, nonlinear polarization phenomena, photoinduced energy and charge transfer as well as the development of new active media for solid lasers and optical convertors and the studies of the properties of liquid-crystal systems, including solid—liquid-crystal interfaces. The laboratory staff incorporates 3 Doctors of Science, 5 Candidates of Science, young scientists, graduates, and students.

LABORATORY «MODELING AND DESIGN OF NANOSTRUCTURES LABORATORY»

Laboratory conducts innovative theoretical studies for engineering light-matter interaction on the nanoscale, and provides theoretical support of experiments conducted at the International Research and Educational Centre for Physics of Nanostructures.
The topics of primary interest are quantum-dot spectroscopy, optics of quantum supercrystals, superchirality, and optical activity of inorganic nanoparticles for applications in chiral sensing and enantioenrichment.

LABORATORY «ANISOTROPIC AND OPTICAL ACTIVE NANOSTRUCTURES»

Laboratory of Anisotropic an Optical Active Nanostructures has been found in 2013 for implementation of a Grant of the Russian Federation Government (decree №220) "Development of new chiral quantum dot systems and their applications". The Laboratory is a division of the Centre of Information Optical Technology being a part of International Research and Education Centre for Physics of Nanostructures. The Laboratory carry out research and development in a wide field of problems concerning the physics and technology of nanomaterials and nanodevices.

LABORATORY «OPTICS OF QUANTUM NANOSTRUCTURES»

The research fields of the Laboratory are experimental and theoretical studies of physical processes responsible for optical properties of quantum nanostructures and hybrid structures on their basis, development of new methods for fabrication of the quantum nanostructures with desired properties and experimental and theoretical approaches for their characterization.
